Plant Overview
This fan palm has a single trunk with persistent split leaf bases and forms a dense rounded crown. The grey-green fronds are deeply divided and the creamy cup-shaped flowers appear in a large cluster amongst the foliage during spring, followed by black fruit.

Cultural Uses Propagation
The Sonoran Palmetto is grown for its foliage and growth habit. It is planted in parks or large gardens as a specimen or used for a tropical effect around a large water feature. It tolerates warm temperate regions (zone 9).
Sow ripe seeds in a well-drained media and maintain a temperature of 19 to 27 C (66 to 81 F). Germination takes up to 3 months.
